I know, I'm pretty darn slow at updating, lol. We've been busy and then a few nights ago, I tried to do this and it wouldn't let me on here. Then I realized that I should read the messages they send me. Last one said no one would be able to log in as usual, had to go to so and so page, etc. Ok, I got it now. Brad was ready to sue the internet company about a week ago because my service was down all darn day. Which meant he had to put up with me in here with him all evening, lol. I'm cranky when my internet is down but it's one of the prices you pay for living in the boonies. I'll still take the boonies, thank you.
This weather is totally unbelievable. It was nearly 70 degrees today and supposed to be high 60's for several more days. But at least today we got quite a bit accomplished. Brad sprinted kennel yesterday so we will be schooling tomorrow. So today was a good day for working outside most of the day. Got all the kennel carpets washed and hung and Brad split a bunch more wood. I got a kick out of the propane guy. He showed up here this afternoon while we were outside, took one look at the gauge and left. Made me happy, still have alot more on account. Matter of fact, what we have left should last another year. We use more in the summer because our air conditioner uses propane. But we haven't turned on the furnace at all this winter so the only propane we are using is for the hot water heater.
I'm kind of dreading the possibility that this very warm start to February might mean a stinkin hot summer....hotter than last year. Like about a hundred and fifty thousand degrees......man I hope not. Last summer was the most miserable one I can remember and I didn't like that one bit. Today was almost uncomfortable. No, I'm not complaining, the more weather like this we have means a very short winter. I hope we got all our super cold overnight temps out of the way but hey, it is still winter so I won't hold my breath. We had one whopper of an ice storm one March so you just never know.
Sam was home last week for a couple days so we went to Salina and upgraded our phones. Brad's is new but very similar to his old one. Sam and I got the touch screen and we now have internet on ours. It's taking some getting used to. I accidently hung up on Jim Hambleton this morning, lol. Got it too close to my face I guess and touched the 'end' button. I really do like it though. I'm playing Words With Friends with a few people but boy does that suck down the battery pretty fast. So now I've become one of 'THEM'.....always have the phone with me, you know. Actually, not really. I leave it in the whelping house while I'm doing chores, don't carry it in my pocket. But I can check weather and email, facebook and texts. Unlike all the past help I've had that can't stop looking at the dumb thing. Only thing I have trouble with is my fat fingers.....I keep hitting wrong letters when I text. You wouldn't believe some of the crazy words I end up typing.
Brad's brother and 3 of his kids are coming down next weekend on Super Bowl Sunday. We're not big on tv sports but I imagine that's what we'll be doing. His brother is bringing the oldest son down to look at a college in Concordia and will come and spend the night. We haven't seen them for quite awhile so it will be fun to visit with them again. Kids grow up so fast, you miss an awful lot when you never get home. We didn't make it up to Nebraska this year and can't go now. Well, I suppose we could but probably won't. We need to get these dogs finished and off to the track shortly. Then it's time to move in the next batch.
Next time Casey and Erin come home, I have a couple jobs for Casey. Poor guy, lol. We have some dog houses to repair....again. Neverending cycle of we fix, they chew, we fix, they chew. It's not like we don't feed them enough, I guess they're just bored. We had to do some splitting last week, some were getting too ornery to live together.
Emeril (Brad) has been hard at it lately. He watches too much cooking channel me thinks. He has fish marinating right now, plus his yukky liver ! That stuff is just plain nasty. Fish I like but you can use your liver for fish bait. Good thing it doesn't smell as bad as it tastes or I'd have to leave the house when he cooks it. He got a turkey a couple weeks ago so we had wild turkey in the cooker. It's not as fat as the ones you buy but I bet it was alot healthier. They pump those store bought ones so full of growth hormones, you wonder if you should even eat it. Yeah, they taste pretty darn good but so do Twinkies and now look. That company is defunct. What is the world coming to? No more Twinkies?
Well, I'm about run down for tonight.
